The coaches are world class trainers and athletes. Their expertise ranges from rehabilitation and weight loss to training professional athletes. All are strong advocates of heart rate monitoring and experts in using heart rate training to achieve maximum results.
 
STEVE BLACK


Stephen A. Black is an entrepreneurial expert in the health care vocation, with 25+ years experience in the health and wellness industry. Black has traveled the world, promoting healthy lifestyles and providing expert insight and research in areas related to rehabilitation, fitness, and sports-specific training. He has worked with professional teams including NFL, NBA, NHL, WNBA and ABL/NBL affiliates.

As a Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, and Strength and Conditioning Coach, Black utilizes his expertise and experience to the benefit of his clients. Currently Black oversees clinical and research operations at RMHPC, an exercise testing and prescription facility located in Boulder, Colorado. RMHPC provides individualized programs for athletes, weekend warriors, and post-rehab clients. In addition to his above-mentioned responsibilities, Black is a much sought after and respected presenter to the health and wellness industry. He serves as an advisor to several organizations and non-profit entities.

Two of Black’s latest ventures include launching clubcoach.net and serving as a lifestyle coach to executives determined to simplify their lives and embark on a pathway to health and prosperity.

In his spare time, Black enjoys recreational activities such as running, cycling, swimming, skiing and experiential activities that lead to a balanced/integrated lifestyle. He has completed multiple endurance events including the Ironman World Championship in Kona, HI. Black’s passion is assisting others in achieving the lifestyle they aspire to.



MIKE GOSTIGIAN


Mike Gostigian, 40, is a fitness consultant and certified strength and conditioning specialist in New York City. He was a 3-time Olympic team member in the Modern Pentathlon events at the 1988 Seoul, 1992 Barcelona, and 1996 Atlanta summer Olympiads. Gostigian won five U.S. National Championships (1992-1996), the 1992 World Cup Championship, and was the world-record-holder in Modern Pentathlon from 1994-1997. He was also a nationally ranked amateur triathlete and competitive golfer.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.A.) and Thunderbird (MBA), Gostigian moved to New York City where he worked at the exclusive La Palestra gym as a personal trainer to numerous A-list personalities. He has developed numerous training programs for marathoners, triathletes, and expedition members headed to Africa and the Himalayas. In addition, he has been instrumental in implementing “special population” exercise protocols for cardiac rehab, weight management, HIV, and osteoporosis patients.

Gostigian has made numerous television appearances in the U.S. and Europe on shows such as NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, MSNBC, Fox, Euro-Sport, SFD Swiss TV, Canal TF-1 TV France, and Good Morning America. He has also been featured in high-profile publications, including USA Today, The New York Times, People, Men's Health, Vogue, Cooking Light, Elle, Self, Cosmopolitan, Tennis Magazine, and Golf Digest.

Gostigian and his wife Sharon Monplaisir— also a 3-time U.S. Olympian (fencing) and personal trainer—founded Olympian Health & Fitness LLC. Together, they have trained actors for numerous films, including Gladiator and Hannibal.

Gostigian is an official spokesperson for Polar Electro, the world’s leading manufacturer of heart rate monitors, and acts as consultant for companies such as Asics, Tiger, Oakley, Revlon and Oxygen Media.



ERIC HARR


Eric Harr is a professional triathlete, best-selling author, radio host and television personality from Marin County, Calif. His critically-acclaimed syndicated sports/health column reaches over ten million readers every week. Harr also hosts “The Eric Harr Show,” a weekly one-hour national radio program which, along with his daily 60-second “Fitness Flash” spots, airs on Sports Byline, America’s #1 sports network.

Harr began his career as a “puffy legal clerk” living in the U.S. Virgin Islands. After commuting to and from work every day on his mountain bike, Harr serendipitously entered The St. Croix Triathlon. He waddled across the line, ahead of a few noted professionals. Almost one year after that event, Harr was ranked No. 6 in the world, and he was named “Rookie of the Year.” Since then, he has won over 30 events in 23 countries, including The Maizuru, Japan Duathlon, The Cayman Islands Triathlon and San Francisco’s Alcatraz Triathlon. He has represented the United States in two World Championship events, finishing as the second American at the World Championship in Muncie, Indiana. Harr has finished second overall at two U.S. National Long Course Championships.

Harr is now undertaking an unprecedented athletic quest entitled “The Ultimate Challenge,” in which he is competing in ten of the world’s most strenuous and celebrated athletic events, including The London Marathon, The Manhattan ‘Race for the River’ and The Hawaii Ironman—on behalf of several international charities.

Harr’s new book, Triathlon Training for the Rest of Us (Rodale, 2003), is on bookshelves now. Harr is already at work on his fourth book, The Shift: The Definitive Guide to Staying Motivated to Exercise. For Life.

Harr has over eight years of on-air television experience with appearances on The Discovery Channel, PBS, ESPN and Fox. Now, he is in discussions with MTV/TNN to host and co-write a new documentary sports/health television series entitled “Beyond the Barricades with Eric Harr” that will air on MTV’s new network, Spike TV.

Harr just signed on as the new CBS fitness correspondent in San Francisco. Harr appears each week on CBS's highly-rated "Weekend Edition," to present advice and tips on the latest products, exercise techniques, training routes, nutrition tips and book reviews.

Harr has been featured as an expert in national publications such as U.S. News & World Report, Glamour, Health, Shape, Bicycling and Outside Magazine. He is a regular columnist for Shape Magazine, America’s #1 women’s fitness publication. His full-page monthly column is entitled “Get Motivated.”

Harr is the President and Founder of Eric Harr Omnimedia, LLC, an integrated content and commerce sports/health media company. His award-winning Web site, EricHarr.com, includes an online store and 12 linked content and community channels, and attracts over 1.3 million unique visitors per month.



RAY BROWNING


Ray Browning, TV host, product development expert, fitness educator, author and former professional athlete, has a mission: to motivate and educate people to live a healthy active lifestyle. He tries to instill this mission through his many activities and by his own example.

Ray currently hosts the OLN television show “Adventure Crusoe" which highlights the wide variety of outdoor activities that can be done around the world. In addition, he maintains his overall wellness through trail running, road cycling, mountain biking, nordic skiing, snowshoeing and other outdoor activities. Ray is also the biomechanics consultant at the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine and is the former vice-president of product development for Asimba, the web’s leading health and fitness site.

Having achieved a master's degree in Kinesiology, Ray has been a fitness consultant for companies including Polar Heart Rate monitors, Tubbs Snowshoes, Pearl Izumi Technical Wear and PowerBar. He also speaks regularly to groups about the benefits of maximizing individual performance.

Ray co-authored SERIOUS Training for Endurance Athletes and has been a contributing editor for Inside Triathlon magazine. He has made guest appearances on ESPN and has been profiled in publications such as Outside Magazine, Runner's World, Rolling Stone and GQ.

During his career as a professional triathlete from May 1988 to October 1996, Ray captured seven Ironman titles and won the 1993 Winter Triathlon World Championships. He is a former member of Fischer Factory XC Team and former captain of the Tubbs 10K Snowshoe Team.

Ray currently resides in Nederland, Colorado.
