I have now owned an S710 Polar heart rate monitor for ten years. I have used the S710 religiously every week since early 2001, and have complete cycling records saved on my computer. The S710 coupled with the Polar software has been an invaluable training and fitness tool. The benefits are numersous and mulitple. For example, I use the software at the begining of the year to set goals and objectives. This allows me to construct mirco and macro training plans for individaul weeks and blocks of 4 to 6 weeks. I then use the S710 workout programming feature to customize interval, tempo and rest workouts to fit within the micro blocks. As the plan progresses, I also use the S710 to test and monitor progress - both on rest days and to measure lactate threshold heart rate (LTHR).Back in the 1970s all of this was guess work. Achieving peak fitness on a limited time budget is today's challenge. The Polar S710 makes that so much easier. One of the hardest things to do - the real art of performance - is to learn how to rest properly - how long and how deep. The S710 helps to considerably reduce the guess work.Overall, in the end it is not about the numbers, the workout patterns or the results. Rather, it is about the challenge and the rewards of staying committed to fitness. No matter your age or objectives Polar can be a strong ally for anyone on the quest for a better and fitter life.Forza !Dave OhstLivermore, CA, USA
