I've been a heavy guy since I was around 12, always being extremely overweight and never having the motivation to do anything about it. My eating habits were horrific! I was eating whole pizzas and burgers, not drinking much water, and doing absolutely NO exercise. Then, I met the girl who 10 months later would become my wife. I'm not sure (and neither is she) why she stuck with me. Before meeting her, my lifestyle was a disaster. On our first date, I asked her if my weight was something that bothered her. She said as long as I'm doing something about, it doesn't bother her. From that day I began my road to a new, better, healthier life. I started seeing a dietitian, I joined a gym and hired an incredible personal trainer. At that stage, I couldn't run to save my life - I mean it, if I ran 100m, I was pooped! But I stuck it out and worked hard and ate properly. I had a lot of support from the people around me, especially my wife and my trainer.A year later, I have lost 37 kilos (around 82pounds); I've run 2 10k races and now I'm working my way to running my first half marathon later this year. Currently I'm running around 14k and loving it!I've had a Polar heart rate monitor the whole time and it's really helped me track my progress and made sure I push myself.I'm not finished yet, I still have a few more kilos to lose, but I'm excited to be able to do things I've never been able to do because of my weight.I'm literally half the man I used to be, and I've never felt better! And trust me, I'm not going back - I've worked too hard!
