June 2009, tried running on the treadmill for as long as I could. Result: 30 seconds. I kept trying over the next few months and while I was eventually about to work up to 10 minutes, I couldn't go past that. Then I decided to get my Polar and all that changed! Soon, with some trial and error, I was able to learn that if I went SLOWER, keeping my heart rate down below maximum, I was able to go much further. I ran 1 mile, then 2. Before I knew it I was running 5 miles at a stretch and signing myself up for my first half-marathon. I have now run 2 half-marathons, am part of a 188-mile running relay team next month and considering a full-marathon. And my Polar has been with me for every step! I can not workout without it, it has become my new security blanket! Thank you Polar, your products have enabled me to become stronger and healthier and develop a love of running that will continue with me for the rest of my life.
