Refugio Lira

As a child I have always struggled with my weight. At school I was known as "The Chubby Kid" and got teased because of it. As the years went by I leaned to live with it and accept it. One day I woke up after I received a phone call from my dad telling me that my mom was in the hospital. She also being severely over weight, diabetic and in a wheel chair was in the hospital fighting for her life. I felt in a way in which no words can describe. While waiting in the lobby at the hospital I decided that it was time for a change enough was enough. I did not want my loved ones to be put in the same position. That same day I decided to pursue better eating habits and start exercising which let me tell you is not as easily said then done. Little by little I started walking around my neighborhood, then later, I started walking six miles in two hours. Then I decide to join a gym since I was sticking to my exercise plan. Since that day I have lost fifty pounds and I can run 6 miles in 60 min and I have a set goal of running 6 miles in 35 minutes. Every day I am one step closer to reaching my goal. I am also happy to say that I am not "the chubby kid" any more I am fit and healthy and I have my mom to thank for that. She is my inspiration to keep fighting to reach my goal. In addition, I want to also thank you polar for helping with my exercising goals.
